The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says that rain, wind and thunderstorms are likely in the northern parts of the country from today (Wednesday).
After the onset of rain, people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and northern Punjab will get relief from the intense heat where they are facing an unexpected heatwave, while temperatures will remain high in the southern half of the country.
Under this new system, heavy rain, wind, and thunderstorms are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Lucky Marri, Dia Marri, Orakzai, Orakzai, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Havelian, Sudhanuti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from April 16 to 20.
The Meteorological Department has warned of possible landslides in the hilly areas of KP, GB, AJK and Murree during the forecast period.
The advisory also states that dusty winds and thundershowers are likely in Islamabad,Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Lahore, Taba Singh, Lahore, Tersa and Lahore. 16 and 18 to 20 April.
