The Quetta Gladiators spinner has been reported for a suspicious bowling action after his team’s Pakistan Super League (PSLX) match against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The concern was raised by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown, casting a shadow over Usman Tariq and his participation in the ongoing PSL season.
As per ICC regulations, Usman Khan is allowed to continue bowling in future matches pending further testing.
However, a second report during the tournament would result in an immediate suspension from bowling. In such a case, Usman would need clearance from an ICC-approved biomechanics laboratory to resume bowling duties in competitive cricket.
The report adds to the challenges for Quetta Gladiators after their 79-run defeat at the hands of Lahore Qalandars, where they were struggling to chase down a mammoth target of 220.
The PSL has maintained a strict stance on bowling action to maintain the integrity of the game, with umpires tasked with monitoring compliance. Usman’s case will likely force the Quetta administration to work swiftly with the player to ensure adherence to regulations, avoiding further punishments that could derail their campaign.
